Coat of arms of the Second Republic of Austria (1945-present): An Eagle of the Holy Roman Empire with one head langued gules murally crowned beaked and legged or holding in the dexter claw a sickle in the sinister a hammer both of the last both legs joined by a broken chain argent and charged on the chest with the Bindenschild

The establishment of the Second Republic of Austria in 1945 saw the return of the arms of the First Republic of Austria (1919-1934), with broken chains added to symbolise Austria's liberation from Nazism. The w:Bindenschild is the coat of arms of the w:House of Habsburg (Gules, a fess argent)
