It was built in 1907 and designed by Ogden Codman, Jr., for heiress Martha Codman Karolik, whose Codman–Davis House was nearby. The building is a contributing property to the Dupont Circle Historic District and was added to the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites on December 19, 1995.
