Category:College Walk (Columbia University)
College Walk is the section of what used to be West 116th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue, which was turned in to a pedestrian walkway in the 1950s, when University President Dwight D. Eisenhower arranged to swap some upstate land the university owned for the street. North of the walkway is the older part of the campus, while south of it is the newer part. Gates were added on each end with the previously free-standing pylons which marked the entrance to the campus integrated into them.
