The Ohio Department of Transportation's Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (OMUTCD) defines an Alternate County Route Sign (M1-H6a), in addition to the blue pentagonal design found in the national MUTCD. [1] See File:Knox County Route 6 OH.svg for an example of the alternate design. These are the only two county route marker designs found on ODOT signage. However, many county highway departments deviate from this standard with a wide variety of designs.
