English: The Dom hrvatskih branitelja (i.e. House of the Croatian Defenders) was built in 1913 as the Marine-Casino (Navy Mess), replacing an earlier structure with the same function built from 1870 to 1872, and served as the Palazzo del governo in the years when Pola formed part of Italy. The house is also used for cultural events.
