Category:East window in Nun Monkton Church

The east window of St Mary's Church, Nun Monkton, was designed by Edward Burne Jones and William Morris, under the company banner of Morris & Co. It was funded by the owner of the priory and lord of the manor, Isaac Crawhall (died 1877), in memory of his wife Ann Crawhall (died 1860).

The window's theme is women, including the original nunnery of Nun Monkton, Ann Crawhall, and the Virgin Mary (to whom the church is dedicated). The central window features figures by Burne-Jones. The middle picture in the central window is the Nativity, and the scene below that is the Annunciation. The two side windows feature musician angels by Morris. The figure in blue with the organ pipes on the right-hand window is St Cecilia's angel, and below that is the Repose on the Flight into Egypt. The lower picture on the left-hand window is the Virgin with St Anne.
