English: Eastern City was an American clipper built 1853 at New Brunswick, New Jersey for James Baines & Co., Liverpool (the second Black Ball Line). She was registered at 1368 GRT. In the South Atlantic on August 1858, on the route Liverpool for Melbourne with 180 passengers and 47 crew members, she was totally destroyed by fire. A trooptransporter safed all people except one man and landing them at Table Bay.[1][2]
