English: The eastern Stüler Building is the eastern counterpart of two symmetrical structures of the Officers' barracks of the Gardes du Corps. The eastern Stüler Building is located on Schloßstraße 70 at the corner of Spandauer Damm opposite to Charlottenburg Palace. Between 1851 and 1859 Friedrich August Stüler created the officers' barracks after a design by King Frederick William IV of Prussia. Easterly adjacent to the eastern Stüler Building are the former royal stables (German: Marstall), built by Wilhelm Drewitz between 1855 and 1858. In the night November 22-23, 1943 a British air raid set the eastern Stüler Building on fire and it burnt out. Between 1966 and 1967 the eastern Stüler Building and the royal stables were reconstructed and rebuilt to show that part of the Prussian state Egyptian Collection (est. in 1828), which happened to have survived the war in safe places in the western zones of occupation in Germany. On 10 October 1967 the Egyptian Museum – Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation opened its gates. In 2005 the collection moved out again and was reunited with that part of the original collection which had happened to survive the war in the Soviet Zone of occupation of Germany. After another refurbish the eastern Stüler Building reopened for the Scharf-Gerstenberg Collection on 10 July 2008.
