- English: The aerial flight of Alexander the Great in a cage (a chariot, in the Byzantine art) between two griffins drawn by a pair of puppies spitted on two spears/rods/sticks, is a legendary tale arisen form the literary tradition of the Alexander Romance. The tale originated a popular iconographic theme of the medieval art, chosen as an exemplum superbiae (example of pride) to be showed on church façades (see: Mariantonia Liborio, ed., AA.VV., Alessandro nel medioevo occidentale, introduction of Peter Dronke, Mondadori, 1997 ISBN 8804425431, pp. 368-369.). The legend gained a very different treatment from the Oriental Christianity, that considered the iconography as a benign and apotropaic symbol
- Italiano: il Volo di Alessandro Magno a bordo di un velivolo che si libra in aria sotto la spinta di due grifoni, ingannati da due esche tenute con due lance.
