From 1937 to 1940 it was the home of Labor Secretary Frances Perkins. The house is a National Historic Landmark and is a contributing property to the Sheridan-Kalorama Historic District. Other previous occupants include the Embassy of Turkey (financial attaché and information office) and Chilean diplomat Mario Rodríguez.
