Established by Preston Allen Freeman.in 1908, Freeman Jewelers was a mainstay on Hamilton Street for decades. The downtown store closed in 2002, however it remains in business at locations at the Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall, Palmer Park Mall in Easton and South Mall in Allentown. As longtime retailers such as Leh's and Hess's department stores and Apple Jewelers gradually fell by the wayside, and as others fled to suburban shopping meccas, Freeman Jewelers has remained, ensconced in the Hamilton Street corridor like a gemstone in a ring.

It remains a family bushiness, being operated today by Robert Freeman Siegfried.
