Category:Friendship Gate, Philadelphia
The Friendship Gate, Friendship Arch or China Gate on N. 10th Street near the intersection with Arch Street in the Chinatown neighborhood of Philadelphia was built in 1984 and was designed by Sabrina Soong. It was constructed by engineers and artisans from China. The large Chinese characters on translate as "Philadelphia Chinatown". The brightly painted portal follows a traditional Qing Dynasty style, using tiles from Philadelphia’s sister city, Tianjin. (Source: "The China Gate")
