Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi is an ancient city in the Kiev Oblast (province) of central Ukraine. Until 1943, the city was known as Pereyaslav. With its current estimated population around 30,000, and over 20 museums, Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi is often described as a "living museum" and was granted the status of a History and Ethnography Reserve. In Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky there is the biggest number of museums comparing to any of Ukrainian towns. The biggest is the Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life in Central Naddnipryanschina, an open-air museum, that occupies 25 hectares.

At the beginning of 2016, Reserve`s administration replied to the Wikimedia Ukraine initiative to publish materials about the museums under the free licence. As the result in the category GLAM Ukraine - National Historic-Ethnographic Reserve "Pereyaslav" one can enjoy 300 photos of museums` exteriors and interiors, and information on 60 architecture objects.
