Category:Gravestone of David Simpson, mayor of Harrogate

The inscription on the monument says: "In loving memory of David Simpson, who died Jan 15th 1931, aged 71 years. He was the first elected honorary Freeman of the Borough of Harrogate, Mayor 4 times, County Alderman, Justice of the Peace, and a member of the Harrogate Town Council for 34 years. Also his wife Hannah Jackson Simpson, born November 23rd 1865, died July 1st 1939."

An additional inscribed plaque at the foot of the same gravestone is a memorial to Simpson's two sons James Marsden Simpson and George Simpson, who died in the First World War (a photograph of the inscription is included here, but as of 2023 that inscription was almost illegible).
