The Groot werreldlijk Tooneel des Hertogdoms van Braband was published in 1730 in The Hague by Christiaan van Lom. Its author was Jacob (or Jacobus) Le Roy (1633-1719), an Antwerp historian. The book included a brief history of several buildings, convents and castles. Its value today lies in its illustrations. Le Roy did not make these himself. He commissioned talented draughtsmen to create a drawing of each building, based on his detailed instructions.
