English: Hellas was an iron fullrigged ship built in 1874 by J. Dutie & Co., Aberdeen for W. Dutie, Jun., Aberdeen with the originally name Cairnbulg. She had dimensions of length × beam × depth: 261.3 × 35.8 × 24 ft (79.6 × 10.9 × 7.3 m) and tonnage 1599 GRT, 1567 NRT and 1497 tons under deck. Later re-rigged as a barque. 1897 sold to Ångfartygsaktiebolaget Finska Lloyd, Helsingfors, to be used as a sail training ship and renamed Hellas. 1902 sold to J. Johannessen & Co., Kristiania, and was renamed Alexandra. 1908 The crew left the ship after having been without food for twelve days. The captain's boat was rescued by a passing steam ship while the first mate's boat managed to reach Indefatigable, Galapagos. The Alexandra was later found grounded off Ablemarle.[1][2]
