- The basic hip roof is a yosemune yane 寄棟屋根 (yosemune 寄棟, yotsuyane 四つ屋根)
- A common form of hip and gable roof is the irimoya yane 入母屋屋根. The irimoya has a larger gable than the kabuto yane.
