Category:Honorification of Tiberius Claudius Pelops at Olympia

English: Found to the east of the Temple of Zeus, the inscription on this pedestal honors the Roman officer stated for being a general and a secretary in Achaea, which had long been under Roman rule. In ancient Greek and Latin the verb typically comes last, after the object, but in this case there is at least one missing line at the bottom. Based on other inscriptions one might assume "honors." At this late date (2nd AD or after) C is being used for Σ. ΤΟ ΚΟΙΝΟΝ ΑΧΑΙΩΝ ΤΙΒ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟΝ ΠΕΛοΠΑ - - ΤΙΒ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟΥ ΑΡΙCΤΕΑ ΚΑΙ ΑΝΤΟΝΙΑC ΚΛΕΟΔΙκΗC ΥΙΟΝ ΤΟΝ CΤΡΑΤΗΓΟΝ κΑΙ ΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΕΑ ΤΟ Β ΠΑCΗC ΕΝΕκΕΝ ΑΡΕΤΗC ΚΑΙ ΤΗC ΕΙC ΑΥΤΟΥC ΕΥΝΟΙΑC (missing verb), "The commonwealth of Achaea (honors) Tiberius Claudius Pelops, son of Tiberius Claudius Aristeas and Antonia Kleodike, general of Achaea, and secretary, for his skill and good sense regarding them."
