English: Former hotel located at todays Pike Place Market (compare Seattle Now & Then. Properly speaking, the building was built as the Palmer Building, also known as the Palmer House and, besides the hotel, housed Empire Laundry.) The building's foundation was weakened by the 1904 construction of the Great Northern tunnel and it was condemned and demolished a few years before Pike Place Market was established. Its footprint is now occupied by the iconic Corner Market Building, completed in 1912.
