Category:Inverness-Shire (ship, 1894)

English: The Inverness-Shire was a four-masted steel barque built in 1894 by R. Duncan & Co., Port Glasgow for T. Law & Co., Glasgow. Dimensions: 282.7 × 42.6 × 24.5 ft (86.1 × 12.9 × 7.4 m) and tonnage: 2307 GRT and 2147 NRT. Rigged with nothing above double top and topgallant sails (Jubilee-rigged). 1915 was towed into Hobart, Tasmania, after having been totally dis-masted in the Australia bay. 1816 the ship was sold to Norway (Sven O. Stray, Kristiansand) and was renamed Svartskog. October 1920 disappeared at sea on voyage from Newport, VA, to Buenos Ayres with a cargo of coal. Posted missing my Lloyd's on July 15, 1921.[1]
