Island Queen, keel laid in July of 1854 on Kellys Island in Lake Erie near Sandusky, Ohio. Built to replace the steamer Islander, which had operated western Lake Erie providing transportation to the mainland to Kellys Island for eight years. Keel 110 ft. Side-wheel paddlewheeler, 149 gross tons. In January of 1855, towed to Sandusky for the installation of a wood burning boiler and steam engine by N. G. Olds & Company.
