Category:Itanos Basilica
English: There are two basilica ("church" implied Christian) ruins, which the archaeologists have dubbed Basilica A and Basilica B. A is 10 m (33 ft) up on the side of the hill between Erimoupolis and Itanos beaches, which the archaeologists have named the East Acropolis. Itanos beach did not then exist; instead, Itanos Harbor extended 100 m (110 yd) inland to the dock area. On the other side of the harbor at an elevation of about 5 m (16 ft) was Basilica B. A ship entering the harbor must sail between basilicas.
