English: Jean Ducrollay (1710-1787), French goldsmith, was among the first of the Parisian goldsmiths to apply Japanese lacquer. Apprenticed to his uncle Jean Drais in 1722, who sponsored him when he became master in 1734. Worked with his brother, Jean-Charles Ducrollay (1712-1766), his nephew, Thomas Estienne, and goldsmiths Louis Roucel and Pierre-François Drais. In 1761, the firm was sold to Jean-Marie Tiron de Nanteuil and both Ducrollay brothers gave up their marks. Jean Ducrollay continued in business as négociant. The name Ducrollay features in the accounts of the Menus Plaisirs and Ministère des Affaires étrangères. Jean Ducrollay retired to Mantes in 1770 and died there in 1787.
