Built in 1878, this Italianate-style house at 410 North Carroll Street in Madison, Wisconsin, was constructed as an income-generating rental property for John Lewis. The house is clad in wooden clapboard with a front and side gable roof, one-over-one replacement windows with decorative trim, a decorative attic window and decorative trim on the front gable, a front porch with paneled square Doric columns, a paneled railing, with a low-slope roof and a brick open pier foundation, a brick base, a two-story bay window on the side facade, and a front entry vestibule.
The house is a contributing structure in the Mansion Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
