English: John Murray (Publishers) Ltd., a British bookselling and publishing firm, which was founded in 1768 when John Murray I (1737-1793), after finishing his career in the Royal Marines, bought out the bookselling business of William Sandby (c.1718-1799) at 32 Fleet Street, London for about £400. Starting from 1812, the firm was located at 50 Albermarle Street, off Piccadilly, where it stayed until being sold in 2002 to Hodder Headline, part of the W H Smith group. At the time of acquisition it was run by the seventh generation of the Murray family.
