Note the mosque looks much different when seen from some height, as the roof has been changed for one with tiles. Also don't mistake it for a likenamed mosque in Istanbul. It was built by the Grand Vizier Köprülü Mehmet Pasha (H.1072/M.1661). It is in the Çeşme Neighborhood in Çarşı, Safranbolu. There is no inscription, but there is the date H.1072/M.1661 on the seal of the Köprülü Mehmet Pasha Foundation, to which the mosque is affiliated. It is understood from a handwritten Qur'an sent by Grand Vizier Köprülü Mehmet Pasha that the mosque was opened for worship in 1661. The mosque clearly reveals the characteristics of the 17th century. In its courtyard, there is a fountain, a sundial, a library and a building that was built jointly for timekeeping.
