English: In 1865, Benjamin West Kilburn and his younger brother Edward Kilburn formed a business partnership as Kilburn Brothers in Littleton, New Hampshire, a company that specialized in publishing of stereographic views; both brothers acted as principal photographers. After Edward Kilburn retired in 1877, Benjamin Kilburn adjusted the firm's name to B. W. Kilburn Company and expanded production to 600,000 stereographic views yearly; near 100 people were employed at his factory in Littleton. Benjamin Kilburn is credited with the invention of a gun camera to circumvent tripods usage. He became a pioneer of photojournalism documenting the presidential inauguration of Grover Cleveland, the Johnstown Flood in Pennsylvania, the Boer War, the Boxer Rebellion, and the Spanish-American War.
