English: Kronion is generally accepted as an ancient Greek adjective used in ancient Greek kronion oros, "the Kronian hill," which becomes kronios lophos in modern Greek, where oros is neuter, but lophos is masculine. The etymology of Kronios is yet undecided, perhaps from Kronos, but whether in a sense of Zeus, or the father of Zeus, or whether a variant of chronos, or some non-hellenic word, remains undetermined, as does the reason for the choice of the site for a temple to Zeus, or the selection of the name, Olympia.
Français : Le mont Kronion est une colline qui surplombe de moins de 100 mètres de hauteur le site antique d'Olympie, situé dans une petite plaine de l'Élide, sur la rive droite de l'Alphée, dans le Péloponnèse. Il tire son nom de Cronos père de Zeus.
