The Madison Theater at 1333-35 Chew Street opened in September 1914 as a small, neighborhood second-run theater, adjacent to West End Hotel and Bar on corner of Madison and Chew Street. It Was a silent film theater, that operated successfully through the 1910s and 1920s. In 1929, the theater was sold to a new owner who continued to operate it and show films. With the sound era beginning in Allentown, it was determined to be too expensive to convert the theater and it subsequently was closed in 1931.

The theater was initially leased to the Civil Little Theater stage company, who had been producing local theater plays in Allentown since 1927 at several locations. In 1947, the CLT recieved notice that the Madison was being sold and was to vacate by 1 December. The CLT subsequently moved to the Allentown High School auditorium and to Muhlenburg College before it purchased the Nineteenth Street Theater in 1957. After the sale, the former Madison Theater became a Jehovah's Witnesses hall for many years. In 1969 the property was sub-divided and 1333 Chew became the home of the Lehigh Valley Hemophilia Association, while the Jehovah's Witnesses remained at 1335 Chew. In 1990 the entire building became a Shi'ite Mosque. Since 2009, it been used by Latin religious groups.

Today, the building remains intact with original front facade. It also retains the fire exit doors intact in alley behind Chew.
