English: The building: Designed by Adolf Láng and built in 1897, renovated by László Vágó in 1914, National Theatre's chamber theatre from 1946 to 1951, renovated by Sándor Azbej from 1964-1966, and the main theatre of the Hungarian National Theatre between 1966 and 2000.

  • The Pesti Magyar Színház (Hungarian Theatre of Pest) opened in 1837 in an already demolished building, then it was renamed as National Theater in 1840 by the state-assembly. It was renamed in 2000 again and become the name: Magyar Theater - meanwhile, in 2002 get an another company and building the name National Theater of Hungary. The company is still state-owned.
  • In 1875 Szidi Rákosi, former actress of the National Theater and her son, László Beöthy opened the Magyar Theatre. From 1945 various theaters have played in the building, which was completely rebuilt in 1964.
