English: Malabar was an steel hulled, single screw passenger-cargo motor ship built by Barclay, Curle & Co., Glasgow for Burns, Philp & Co. Diesel engine with 2,700 HP, 8 cylinders, 625 NHP and 13.2 knots. Dimensions: 350.9 × 48.7 × 22.7 ft (106.9 × 14.8 × 6.9 m) and Tonage: 4512 GRT, 2685 NRT. Worked the Java - Singapore run from Melbourne via Sydney. Wrecked in fog and aground at Miranda Bay North side Long Bay, 7nm south of Port Jackson near Sydney 2nd April 1931. The suburb in that region now bears her name. on: 148681 [1][2]
