English: The former Testaccio Slaughterhouse was build in 1889 in Rome. It hosted the municipal slaughter since 1890 until 1975, when was moved to an eastern suburb of the city. After its dismissal as slaughterhouse it was used mainly for social and free activities like i.e. the People's School of Music (Scuola Popolare di Musica). Currently it hosts, apart the abovementioned school, also the City of Alternative Economy and the Museum of Contemporary Art

Italiano: L'ex mattatoio Testaccio di Roma fu costruito nel 1889 ed entrò in esercizio nel 1890; servì come mattatoio comunale fino al 1975, anno del suo spostamento nella periferia est della capitale, tra via Prenestina e via Collatina. I locali ospitarono da allora la Scuola Popolare di Musica e a seguire il centro sociale "Villaggio Globale". Il recupero da parte del Comune di Roma avvenne verso la fine degli anni novanta, e oggi vi trovano sede anche la Città dell'Altra Economia e il Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Roma, o MACRO.
