English: The Mooltan was a full-rigged three-masted ship, built by Richardson, Duck & Co., Stockton in 1880 for the British & Eastern Shipping Co. - MacDonald J., Liverpool. 1907 she was sold to Bech Alexander & Co., Norway and 1916 to Henschiens Rederi A/S (Johs. A. Henschien), Tvedestrand, Norway. On April 24th, 1917, on voyage from Pensacola, Florida to Greenock, UK with a cargo of timber, was sunk by gunfire by the German submarine U-70, 280 miles west of Ireland. 1 person was lost.
Her dimensions were: length × beam × depth = 251 × 39 × 24 ft (76.5 × 11.8 × 7.3 m) and she had a tonnage of 1725 GRT [1]
