English: The monastic site at Moon, County Kildare, was probably founded by St. Columba in the 6th century. Remainings of an early church with antae are present (east gable and a small part of the north wall). The church was extended to the west in the 13th century. The site is well known for its high crosses. See Tomás Ó Carragáin: Churches in Early Medieval Ireland, p. 313; Aubrey Gwynn and R. Neville Hadcock: Medieval Religious Houses Ireland, p. 399.
