  • Helmet with padded bumpers around and across top, ear and neck flaps, and a large metal eagle-and-swastika emblem and the NSKK banner on front. See Second pattern padded crash helmet in painted black leather, with a small visor, chin strap and neck flaps in the collections of the Imperial War Museum in London.
  • The helmet was worn while driving an open-topped car or a motorbike, at parades, ceremonies and rallies. The helmet type was originally used by pilots under World War I, adopted by the Motor SA circa 1928 and later by the NSKK with the addition of a large metal insignia consisting of a NSDAP 'eagle-and-swastika' (Parteiadler, 'party eagle'), the Nazi Party's stylised German imperial eagle with its head turned to its left wing and clutching a wreathed swastika) and a NSKK banner.
  • The NSKK was a paramilitary organization of the Nazi Party (NSDAP) in Germany 1931–1945 training members in the operation and maintenance of motorcycles and automobiles, transporting NSDAP and SA officials/members, and serving as a roadside assistance group in the mid-1930s.
