English: Orange Shirt Day is an event that started in 2013. It is held annually on September 30 in Canadian communities with students and staff being encouraged to wear an orange shirt to school that day, to commemorate the suffering of Indigenous peoples in the residential school system. Coincident with public holiday National Day for Truth and Reconciliation established in 2020 and first observed in 2021, for remembrance of the tribulations of the indigenous under colonial policies of Canada
