Overo is a horse coat color pattern that encompasses all of the pinto spotting patterns other than Tobiano, including frame, splashed white and sabino. Overo horses may also be a combination of these, but excluding tobiano traits. Horses combining overo patterns with tobiano are sometimes called Toveros. Although a "catchall" category in some respects, overo is still a useful classification because not all of the pinto spotting patterns have yet been genetically mapped, so it is often difficult to determine precisely which genetic mechanisms are at play in a given horse.
