Category:Peter J. Hamacher Building
Built in 1889, this Queen Anne-style building at 334 State Street in Madison, Wisconsin, housed the Peter J. Hamacher Saloon and Restaurant. The building features a panted brick exterior, a low-slope roof obscured behind a parapet, arched windows on the second floor, recessed brick panels and brick corbeling on the second floor, and a first floor modernized retail shopfront.
The building is one of many commercial and mixed-use buildings that contribute to the vibrant State Street corridor that runs between the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus and Capitol Square.
