English: This square is named after the Portuguese painter José Ricardo Júdice or Samora Barros, (Born 3 April 1887 - Died 1972) better known as Barros Samora he was born in Albufeira. Samora taught painting and drawing at the Industrial and Commercial School of Silves. he also contributed to several exhibitions in Portugal and abroad for which he was given awards. Samora was also a writer and produced work in various periodicals and published a book of sonnets.
