Category:Prayer book of Laureins Van den Haute

This prayer book was owned in 1574 by Laureins van den Haute, alias Laurens Du Bois who was citizen of Ghent. He was at that time in the service of Jacob Fugger in Augsburg. In 1581 Vanden Haute had the prayer book illuminated by Joris Hoefnagel. The six miniatures that Hoefnagel painted on a few sheets of parchment were inserted between the prayers in sections. The representations are accompanied by emblems, inscriptions and decorative elements that are characteristic of Joris Hoefnagel.
