English: According to traditional Christian interpretation, the verse Gen 3:15 about the serpent and the seed of the woman is the first divine promise (proton euangelion) of the future Messiah. The Vulgata version "ipsa [mulier] conteret caput tuum" - "she [the woman] will bruise your head" originated the depiction of Virgin Mary bruising the serpent of sin (Immaculata).
