English: Reading station's subway was the original access route to the platforms. After the station was given a new footbridge in the 1980s it largely fell out of use. The rebuilding of the station saw the subway repurposed in 2014. It no longer connects to the platforms but instead provides a public footpath between the north and south sides of the station, replacing an inconvenient facility on the footbridge.
