The Polish Vasas, as their Habsburg relatives from Spain and Austria, were great collectors of relics and religious objects. Some of them preserved as donations to different churches. The relics of St. Stanislaus, St. Casimir, St. Florian and St. Placidus, Byzantine reliquary of the Holy Cross of emperor Manuel I Komnenos and the Holy Nail, taken by John Casimir to France were inherited by Anne de Gonzague, Princesse Palatine, who donated them to the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
