English: Rivet nuts, clinch nuts and swage nuts. Various forms of internally-threaded fastener that are permanently attached to sheetmetal or plastics to form a fixed nut. There are many varieties and patent designs, some specific to particular materials. Most are inserted and fixed with the aid of a press tool, some can rely on the bolt itself.
Generally, swage nuts are fitted from the rear of the panel, rivet nuts from the front. Swage nuts may thus be inserted easily (as they only need to lock against rotation) but rivet nuts need to be riveted into place, usually with a press tool, as they must also resist the larger tension forces.
