English: The Holy Innocents Cemetery in Rossmore, New South Wales on the grounds of Rossmore Anglican Church (also known as the Church of the Holy Innocents). Its grounds feature several mature plantings indicating a deliberate formal landscape design. These include members of the Pinus and Cypressus species situated adjacent to major paths on the east and south sides of the church. Other plantings evident on individual graves include Periwinkle and Belladonna bulbs. A large group of Eucalyptus and Olive trees occupies the southwest corner of the churchyard.

There is a short, formal gravel walkway (with unsympathetic concrete strips) and avenue planting of Radiata Pines (planted c1975). The two Italian Cypress either side of the main entrance are possibly 60-90 years old, the 2 Peppercorn trees nearby about 30 years old and old Yew (?) is about 80 plus years old. The native species include Grey Box and the occasional Forest Red Gum.

The main entrance is marked by a remnant of fine old picket fence with turned timber pickets and large hardwood posts with decorative "onion dome" carved tops. The galvanised steel gate is a later addition (1940-50s). Similar old posts mark the location of a former gate on the southern boundary of the church.

The churchyard area extends on the west and south sides of the church. Graves are arranged in east facing rows with the cemetery containing 85 monuments and approx. 100 burials. Monuments include a good range of mid to late 19th century headstones and 20th century desk or slab and desk monuments in a variety of materials and styles. The earliest monument is a finely executed sandstone headstone to Charlotte Hunt 1864. This bears a variety of elaborate scripts and floral motifs and the name of the mason: G.M. Wandless, engraver Maryland, NSW.

Other monument types in the cemetery include a trachyte obelisk, marble obelisk, marble pedestal with urn and marble broken column. There are also 3 cast iron grave surrounds. The Bell family graves are marked by sandstone headstones and footstones with very unusual tapered slate kerbing. Family members commemorated are Robert Bell (1877), Isabella Bell (1863) and Elizabeth Bell (1860). Several headstone along the northern boundary are tilting or have fallen.

Significance
The Church of the Holy Innocents Churchyard and Cemetery is an important cultural landscape which includes a well designed rural parish Church in good condition within an attractive rural setting. The churchyard includes extensive remnants of formal landscaping. The cemetery contains the burials of local pioneers and their families giving significant historic and social associations with the early settlement of the Rossmore area. It provides documentation of the local community and includes several inscriptions which pre-date the introduction of civil registration in 1856. The cemetery also exhibits a wide variety of well executed monument designs and styles which record the technical accomplishment of the 19th century stonemasons.
