English: This street is named after Joaquim Augusto Mouzinho de Albuquerque (Born November 12, 1855 in Batalha, Quinta da Várzea - Died January 8, 1902 Lisbon). He was a Portuguese cavalry officer who is best known for his captured of Gungunhana in Chaimite (1895) and pacification of Mozambique. He was a grandson of Luís da Silva Mouzinho de Albuquerque. He became governor of Gaza Province and Mozambique until 1898 when he returned to Portugal. He was also a respected instructor of Crown Prince Luís Filipe. He allegedly committed suicide in 1902 in Lisbon although some sources claim he was murdered.
