English: "The Sailor's Grave" is the gravesite of John McClean, who died at sea in 1854. As he was thought to have died of an infectious disease, he was refused burial by the villages of Lochranza and Catacol on the Isle of Arran. He was subsequently buried midway between the two villages, and it became a local custom to place a pebble or stone on the gravesite.
