The Sharneshwar Mahadev temple of Abhapur is a large 14th to 15th century Shiva temple in north Gujarat, near the Rajasthan border. It is a two storey temple inside a stone enclosure and two primary entrances to the east and the west. Though repeatedly desecrated during the Sultanate-era wars of 16th and 17th century, the temple is notable for its artwork remains. These show Hindu gods and godesses, scenes from Hindu epics and fables, as well as secular cultural and social scenes on the plinth and external walls.
