The Senator was a 410 feet (120 m) long Great Lakes bulk carrier that served from her construction in 1896 to her sinking in 1929 when she was rammed amidship by the iron ore laden steamer Marquette. Today her wreck rests in 450 feet (140 m) of water, and on April 12, 2016 she was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
