English: The Shahu ("Sand Lake") is located just northeast of downtown Wuchang. It is much less known than its eastern neighbor, the East Lake, because there is little convenient access to it, and its shores are "unimproved". There is a wholesale vegetable market (Shahu Market) south of the lake, and some unremarkable apartment complexes to the east. Looking north across the lake, once can see rows of high-rise buildings, probably lined up along
Youyi Dadao (Friendship Ave.) and Heping Dadao (Peace Ave.), which run between the lake and the Yangtze River
